Nurse Manager - RNFull-Time Day ShiftLincoln

Position: Nurse Manager (RN) 

Unit: Pulmonary Unit

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift: Day Shift/On-Call

Compensation: Based on prior experience

Work Location: In Person at 4405 Normal Blvd. Lincoln, NE 68506

Duties: 

  • Direct the day to day functions of the Pulmonary Nursing department.

  • Coordinate nursing services with other departments.

  • Participate in surveys as needed.

  • Supervise the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients as required.

  • Develop departmental budget and control expenditures to meet requirements.

  • Consult on care plans, treatments, rehab, etc. as necessary.

  • Be familiar with State and HCFA regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.

  • Serve as liaison between hospitals, physicians, community agencies and other facility departments.

  • Monitor labor hour usage and adjust staffing accordingly.

  • Participate in patient rounds with physician as needed.

  • Monitor charts for accuracy and timeliness of all discipline documentation and initiate medication error reports, as needed.

  • Complete a monthly audit on issues as directed by Director of Clinical Services.

  • Monitor med passes for correctness.

  • Ensure that adequate staff is hired, trained, and on duty for each shift.

  • Assist in scheduling as necessary.

  • Develop work assignments as needed.

  • Assure that employees follow established policies and procedures.

  • Complete job performance evaluations as directed.

  • Ensure availability via phone at all times to staff and delegate this responsibility as needed.

  • Assume “on call” status for staffing needs on a rotating basis.

  • Provide direct nursing care as needed.

  • Inform staff of new admissions.

  • Ensure that rooms are ready.

  • Make daily patient visits to observe and evaluate patient conditions.

  • Report problem areas to the Director of Clinical Services.

  • Make independent decisions concerning nursing care.

  • Start IV's, etc. within scope of practice.

  • Ensure that reference material is available.

  • Participate in the quality assurance program.

  • Ensure that all work spaces are clean.

  • Assure that the proper equipment and supplies are present.

  • Assure that staff is trained to use equipment and supplies correctly.

  • Review usage reports to determine discrepancies, follow-up to resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications & Skills of Pulmonary Unit Manager:

  • Valid nursing license

  • Advanced knowledge of EMRs

  • Excellent bedside manner and communication skills

  • Working knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations

Pulmonary Unit Manager Requirements: 

  • Must possess a current, active license to practice as an RN or LPN in Nebraska.

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when needed.

  • Must effectively communicate and relate with residents and family members.

  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures. 

Experience: 

  • Pulmonary/vent: 1 year (Preferred)

CNAFull-time Evening & Night ShiftSidney

Position: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Job Type: Full-time

Shift: Evening & Night Shift

Compensation: Based upon prior experience

Duties:

  • Assist with daily living activities. This includes delivering meals, turning and ambulating patients and providing plenty of fresh water, as well as extra nourishment between meals

  • Help patients with personal hygiene. Provide patients with bedpans, help with baths, shampoos and showers

  • Provide adjunct care for the patient, including ice packs, non-sterile dressings and therapeutic baths

  • Check vital signs and record daily information in the patient's chart

  • Assist the nurses and other staff as needed

  • Adhere to professional standards, follow policies and procedures and abide by federal, state and local requirements.

Requirements:

  • CNA License (required)
